Edition Notes

The Massachusetts Historical Society copy is ascribed in a contemporary hand: Annett [i.e., Peter Annet?]--clerk to Christopher Kilby, Esquire, of England.

Three states noted: the first (Bristol B1480) lacks the words "London printed." in the imprint; verso of title page is blank. The second and third (Evans 6484) have the words "London, printed." in the imprint; in the second, the verso of title page is blank; in the third the verso of the title page has a bookseller's advertisement. No order of priority is evident.

Signatures: [A]þ́ B-Gþ́.

"Boston, May, 1. 1750. Proposals for printing by subscription, Meditations and contemplations ... by James Hervey ..."--verso of half-title.
