By the Honourable John Penn, Esquire, lieutenant-governor, and commander in chief of the province of Pennsylvania ... a proclamation.

Whereas a number of persons ... have lately ... made attempts to possess themselves of, and settle upon a large tract of land within ... this province ... I have ... judged it proper to issue this my proclamation ... enjoining and requiring ... all and every person and persons, already settled and residing on the said lands, without the licence of the proprietaries, or authority from this government, immediately to evacuate their settlements ... Given ... at Philadelphia, the twenty-eighth day of June ... in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy.
