BYU copy has letter from Phillpotts to Forman laid in and dated 20 Dec: 1927, stating, in part:"Knowing your great interest in my stuff I am sending you the original novel 'Children of men'--this copy I revised for this definitive edition. In this case ... these final revisions have interest ... I have destroyed all the others, you in your generous concern in my work, may find this copy ... of interest. Burn it otherwise."
