Edition Notes

Attributed to Shakespeare on account of the identity of initials. The writer was William Stafford and the subject political economy. The reference by Stafford in the dedication to Queen Elizabeth to 'her clemency in pardoninge certayne my vndutifull misdemeanor', has led the editors to ascribe the work to Shakespeare on the assumption that his supposed deer-stalking was the offence referred to - Jaggard.

Originally imprinted, London, Thomas Marshe,1581.
