Dr. Sameen Ahmed Khan an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Sciences, Dhofar University, Salalah, Sultanate of Oman (http://www.du.edu.om/).

He did PhD on the Quantum theory of charged-particle beam optics, from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (MATSCIENCE/IMSc), Chennai, India, under the supervision of Prof. Ramaswamy Jagannathan. He did Post-Doctoral research at the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), Padova, Italy and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Cuernavaca, México. He has twelve years of teaching experience in Oman. He has developed a unified treatment of light beam optics and light polarization using quantum methodologies. This formalism describes the beam-optics and light polarization from a parent Hamiltonian, which is exact and derived from the Maxwell's equations. He has presented his work at numerous conferences across the continents. He has authored two books; six book chapters; and about sixty technical publications in journals and proceedings of repute. He has close to 200 publications on science popularization. Dr. Sameen is a Member of the Working Group, “Ibn Al Haytham” set-up by the International Steering Committee of the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies. He is a signatory to six of the Reports on the upcoming International Linear Collider.
