"The main postulates of theoretically oriented research in explicit description of natural language can be formulated (following Chomsky) as follows: The set of grammatically well-formed sentences of the given language is to be defined by a procedure that should assign each sentence as many structural characteristics (which should not be contrary to the linguistic sense of native speakers) and as many meanings as does the sentence."
