First Sentence

"Except for their diction, children's books on ancient Greek and Roman mythology are essentially timeless since they contain traditional material; nevertheless, as Nathaniel Hawthorne pointed out in the preface of A Wonder Book, "by their indestructibility itself, they are legitimate subjects for every age to clothe with its own garniture of manners and sentiment, and to imbue with its own morality" (p. 3)."
