The one-time leader of the Radical Party in France, Joseph Caillaux was jailed for part of World War I for his pro-German policies and remained a controversial figure in French politics for the rest of his life. This book was originally written in French under the title "Ou va la France? Ou va Europe?" and is now valued for its foresight in asking for a Europe where all its countries are joined politically and economically on a democratic basic - in short, the European Union we have today. The book is a must for students of economic history.
