The district selected by the Children's bureau in 1919 for a study of the problems of adolescent children lies in the central field in Schuylkill county. It includes the boroughs of Shenandoah, Gilberton, and Frackville and surrounding patches up to the boundary line of Mahanoy City on the east and Girardville on the west.
