The first part, a survey of the past culture of the Kiché race and the present culture of the Kiché of Chichicastenango, was written by Laurence F. Hawkins ... The photographs are by Ovidio Rodas C. The section on 'The origin of the symbols,' a paraphrase of part of the Popol buh, is a faithful translation by Mr. Hawkins of the corresponding section of the Simbolismos written by Ovidio Rodas C."--Foreword.
