Ed Makin is losing cattle to elusive rustlers and each time an eerie cry rings out, someone dies. Puncture wounds over the victims' hearts offer the only clue. Ed Makin, owner of the K-Spear ranch, is losing cattle to elusive rustlers and each time an eerie cry rings out, someone dies. Puncture wounds over the victims' hearts offer the only clue. Sheriff Dawson discovers stranger Jack Larrimore at the scene of one death, and holds him briefly as a suspect. Ramone Pasquale, a supposedly rich Spaniard with a most peculiar servant, courts Makin's daughter Conchita, and is also friendly with their antagonistic neighbours, the Double-Spear-Box outfit. After hiring Larrimore as foreman, Makin is ambushed, dying unexpectedly bearing the mysterious puncture wounds. Conchita turns the ranch over to fiance Ramone. He fires Larrimore, who suspects the Spaniard and Double-Box-Spear are behind everything, and sets out to discover the truth. He unearths truth so fantastic it seems like the Devil's work.
