Work Description
Luisa is a young girl who loves adventures and football. On May 20th, during her village's Independence Day celebrations, she decides to join the local football match. Despite facing gender prejudice from her male friends—who claim she shouldn't play because she is a girl and "not strong enough"—Luisa confidently stands her ground, joins the match, and scores a brilliant goal, proving her capability to everyone.
Originally written in Tetum as "Luisa Fantástika", this children's book was developed by Timorese artists under The Asia Foundation's "Let's Read" initiative to promote gender equality and children's literacy.
