A slightly different version, probably the original, was published in 1648 with title "The Kings Majesties letter to the Queen; concerning the differences betwixt the English and the Scots ..."; the introductory note (virtually the same as "To the Christian reader") is dated and signed: Cowes-castle, 24. Febr. 1647 [1648]. T. Wilson [pseud.?]
A libelous forgery in the King's name, directed toward arousing popular fear of Catholicism and the Queen.
