An edition of Passenger train service (1967)

Passenger train service.

Hearings, Ninetieth Congress, first session.

Pt. 1: Committee Serial No. 90-17. Considers S. 1175 and related bills, to change administrative procedure and requirements for discontinuance of passenger train service, allowing longer periods of investigative time, reassignment of burden of non-profitability proof to carriers, and making alternative transportation arrangement provisions rather than service continuance/discontinuance decisions.

Pt. 2: Committee Serial No. 90-17. Continuation of hearings on S. 1685 and related S. 512, S.J. Res. 52, and S. Con. Res. 25, to require the ICC to consider financial assistance to passenger trains before allowing them to discontinue service. Resolutions would authorize DOT to prepare a master plan of all railroad passenger services, and the Federal Government to use high-speed trains for mail transportation.
