Edition Notes

Incipit: A pamphlet has recently appeared on "The university question," purporting (as the title-page states) to be "the statement of John Langton, Esq., M.A., vice-chancellor of the University Toronto ..." This pamphlet has been published some two months after Mr. Langton lost his re-election as vice-chancellor, and yet the title-page represents him as still (not late) vice-chancellor! ... To the renewed attacks made in their numerous and lengthened notes throughout the pamphlet, I purpose to reply in the course of the present month, in a letter addressed to the Honorable Chairman of the late University Committee.

Dated at end: Toronto, 14th March 1861.
