中国古代壁画指绘制在建筑(包括宮殿邸宅,寺观洞窟和墓葬三种形式)墙壁上的美术作品.这种独特的传统艺术,反映了中国古代的信仰崇拜和风俗时尚.唐代壁画墓大多数发现于陕西,主要集中在以西安市为中心的唐长安城及其附近.壁画墓基本上都是皇亲国戚和官僚权贵的墓葬,壁画绘于墓中的墓道,过洞,天井,甬道及墓室的壁上.西安市及附近墓葬揭取的壁画以陕西历史博物馆收藏最多,所藏壁画1000多平方米,540余幅,仅一级品就有100余幅,壁画数量之多,等级之高,保存状况之好,时间序列之完整,在全国乃至全世界都是绝无仅有的.本图册收录馆藏壁画121幅(组),绝大部分是上展壁画,图片即时采用数字化技术取得的高画质的图像.
