Edition Notes
"First edition of this bilingual Hebrew edition of the first chapter of Isaiah with the commentary of Dr. Samuel David Luzzato, among the greatest of Jewish-Italian scholars. There are facing Hebrew-Italian title-pages followed by SHaDaL's introduction, in Italian. Il profeta Isaia is comprised of the text of Isaiah in Hebrew and Italian on facing pages and below, entirely in Hebrew in small rabbinic letters SHaDaL's detailed and comprehensive commentary. SHaDaL's commentary on Isaiah is dated from 1845-97, so that this part, dated 1842, would appear to be a prospective. It is not the entire first chapter, for it concludes at the beginning of verse twenty-nine, the chapter actually being comprised of thirty-one verses."--Virtual Judaica auction catalogue.
