Issued in full parchment binding with silk ties at fore-edge; sewn on four tapes; upper cover stamped in gold and red with central title, author, and illustrator surrounded by a wreath and a motif of swirling garlands and fans, above figures in period costumes, all within a border of fans; smooth spine, gilt with title and illustrator within fan and ribbon decorations; top edge gilt; designed by Hugh Thomson.
