Drafts of Magpie for Paper #1 were in the works back in 2018, but D had shelved the project up until the Covid-19 pandemic inadvertently allotted her more free time to look it over again. She tries and semi-fails to completely tidy up her bedroom a la Marie Kondo, accepting that she will forever be a maximalist. In 2018, she caught bluegrass artist EmiSunshine live at the Rumba Café, and wrote a poem about a Rhiannon Giddens show she saw with her mother on Mother’s Day. Her 2020 recommendations include the Sleep Body Lotion by Lush, Arrival starring Amy Adams, Primavera by Francesca Lia Block and garlic bagel chips; she vents about everything she misses from before the pandemic, largely visiting the public library for physical books and grocery shopping. Magpie for Paper #1 features a blue Magpie bird on the cover and is bound with dark blue embroidery floss. -- Claudia
