At the beginning of 2018, the workshop entitled "Global turn, decolonization and museums" was held at the BASA Museum (Bonn Collection of the Americas) of the University of Bonn. This event was held during the stay of Juan Villanueva Criales del Museo Nacional de Etnografía y Folklore (MUSEF) of La Paz, Bolivia, as a visiting professor in the Department of Anthropology of the Americas of the University of Bonn, under the auspices of theDAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). This fruitful inter-institutional and academic exchange promoted bringing together fourteen professionals from museums and university collections from Germany, Austria, Bolivia, Spain, Holland and Sweden to discuss the issue of decolonization (also as part of the self-conception of the Plurinational State of Bolivia).and, therefore, of coloniality, through various experiences and analyzing the roles and potentialities that museums and collections have in this sense. The main objective was to discuss the challenges of a decolonizing perspective in the work of museums and to learn more about the experience that the MUSEF has been carrying out for some time in Bolivia.
