The descriptive part is taken from Charlevoix's Histoire et description générale de la Nouvelle France. The maps bear titles: "Map of the island of Cape Breton as laid down by the Sieur Bellin, 1746" and "A map of North America as far as relates to the English settlements, taken from the Sieur Bellin, 1746."
