ACARORUM CATALOGUS VIII

Trombidiformes, Prostigmata, Superfamilia Cheyletoidea (Cheyletidae, Psorergatidae, Demodecidae, Harpyrhynchidae, Syringophilidae), Superfamilia Cloacaroidea (Cloacaridae, Epimyodicidae)

The eight volume of this series "Acarorum Catalogus" is devoted to Superfamilia Cheyletoidea (Cheyletidae, Psorergatidae, Demodecidae, Harpyrhynchidae, Syringophilidae) and Superfamilia Cloacaroidea (Cloacaridae, Epimyodicidae). About 1243 species of 177 genera are listed therein, with synonymies and citations in various papers. The book also contains a list of by-country distributions, type localities, hosts of the parasitic species and lists of authors who published on any known species of these families. There are lists of publications for each of the families. The last two volumes of the same series on the patterns of the first eight are under way. The present volume contains data on 1243 species from 177 genera and seven families. The work was strongly facilitated by the revisions and chеcklists of different families.

Book Details

First Sentence

"The year 1955 was remarkable in the history of Acarology. Several attempts of classification of various groups have been published almost simultaneously: of the Acaridiae (C.E. Yunker), of the Trombidiform mites (F. Cunliffe) and of Suborder Mesostigmata (J. H. Camin and F.E. Gorirossi). In the same year Dubinin and al. revised many groups of parasites of rodents, Zumpt & Till wrote their paper on Southafrican mites and many other acarological initiatives took place. Nevertheless, 70 years later the taxonomy of the Acari is still subject of many changes, due to deeper approach and to the new taxa, described from all over the world."
