"Elaboration of a 1985 study retraces history of the Church of Jesús Nazareno and development of its intricate pictorial plan of Renaissance emblematic iconography, Golden Age mysticism, and indigenous sensitivity. Excellent photographic documentation of the rich mural decoration, most of which was done by the colonial mestizo artist Miguel Antonio Martínez de Pocasangre. Contains plans of the church and surrounding building compound, and a diagram locating the scenes represented in the Calvary chapel"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
