In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Lewis Tappan talks about Phelpśs planned return from Haiti, and the payment made for his article. He then discusses matters related to the mission in Jamaica and the trouble he is having with Charles Steward Renshaw. He also discusses the new paper in Washington, and the debate in Congress favorable to abolitionism. He says Mr. Whipple is doing well as Editor and Corresponding Secretary of the American Missionary Association.
