Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

In this letter, Lucia Weston writes that Anne Warren Weston and Dr. Amos Farnsworth came down on the stage from Groton. She tells about the case of a black stowaway who was imprisoned for nonpayment of his passage money. Samuel E. Sewall rescued him. Lucia said: "You will notice the mistake that I have made, but you would not wonder for the disapppointed man is here that is Mr. Bigelow. I suppose Anne told you about it, if she did not, I am bound to secrecy and will tell you when I see you." Lucia mentions a "southern young lady" who may attend her school. This letter is mostly about gossip and domestic details.
