Holograph, signed.
William H. Spear's wife wants him to inform Caroline Weston that the proceeds of the anti-slavery fair were $82.16. William H. Spear asks: "What will poor [Charles C.] Torrey do? A new feather in his cap." [Charles Turner Torrey went to Washington as a newspaper correspondent in December 1841.] In the Dedham Patriot, Edmund Quincy reported that the elite attended the anti-slavery fair, "which is true---The Orthodox and Deists were afraid to attend."
