It is London, 1914 and war is looming. The suffragettes are on the move and two young women at 35 Park Lane dream of breaking free. While, below stairs, housemaid Grace Campbell is struggling. She has told her family she is a secretary, and has been asked to send more money home than she earns, and this is when she gets herself into trouble. Meanwhile Miss Beatrice, daughter of the house, has had enough of the social season. When she gets the call to join Mrs Pankhurst's suffragettes, Bea finds herself playing a dangerous game that will throw her in the path of a man her mother wouldn't let through the front door.
