Tales from the White Hart is, in essence, a group of science-based "tall tales", told at a pub "somewhere in London". These whoppers (or are they?) are generally funny, from the botanist with murder on his mind who raises an exotic orchid to be the perfect killing tool to the next type of entertainment which is guaranteed to make television obsolete, to the war computer which turns out to be a staunch pacifist, Mr. Clarke writes a number of stories guaranteed to make you laugh -- as well as think.
