This little book describes a walk trough the oldest part of Amsterdam, with information about the original mediaeval cloisters and other medieval buildings, mainly city-gates. Not much is left of the cloisters in Amsterdam, since most of them were transformed into social welfare institutions when Amsterdam around 1600 became a protestant city, but this book gives a vivid image of how mediaeval Amsterdam looked like. Illustrated and with a route description.
