Second edition with some revisions and additions to the original manual and handbook developed in Calabar, Tropical West Africa, South Eastern Nigeria, by Professor Stacey B. Day, in 1982. The Manual is based upon rural health considerations in the Local Government Area of Akampka, outside of Calabar, and was the result of inter-agency work on the Akampka Project - targeted at improving health, sanitation, water safety, maternal and child care in rural West Africa.
