The woodcut illustrations, from the same blocks as those in the Giunta editions from 1573 to 1644, were designed for Mercuriale by Pirro Ligorio and cut by Cristoforo Coriolani. The plans are engraved after the original woodcuts. The engraved plates are newly added in this edition. Cf. editor's pref.
Edited by Andreas Frisius, the text based on the 1644 Giunta edition newly collated with several manuscript copies.
Added engr. t.p. signed by the engraver: Romyn de Hooghe.
Title page vignette signed: A. Bloteling.
Includes bibliographical references.
