Edition Notes

The letter A on some of the woodcuts has occasioned different conjectures. It may even refer to the draughtsman of the cuts or to Alciati himself. Cf. Green; LC.

The woodcuts (except those with signature A) belong to Virgil Solis. Cf. Green.

RBSC copy: Pages 195-206 wanting. With the anonymous armorial bookplate of Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex.
