In volume 1 of this work Percy identifies the author of the 'Life' preceding the text as 'Dr.Thos. Birch'; the 'Editor's Supplement' to this Life is attributed by him to Abraham Maddock 'Mr. Hervey's curate'. Volume two is prefaced by 'The Copy of a Letter sent to the Writer of Mr. Hervey's Life', initialled: 'J.S', with Percy's note: 'Dr. James Stonhouse'.

'Errata, Vol. II' on verso of page 439; list of 'Books printed for John Rivington' on two final pages. Thomas Percy is mentioned several times in the text as 'Mr. P....'.
