I Must Have Liberty is the autobiography of Isabel Oyarzábal Smith, also known as Isabel de Palencia (Malaga 1878-Mexico City 1974), writer, journalist, founder of the first magazine exclusively for women in Spain in 1908, and Spanish ambassador to Sweden and Finland from 1936 to 1939. It narrates the most convulsive years of the Spanish history of the 20th century through the words of a woman who lived them intensely.
