SEEDS 5 * Society, Environment & Energy Development Studies
Energy Literacy Series: The current, online Energy Literacy Series has been available since 2009. The first Energy Literacy Series was launched in 1982, and during the next fifteen years was used by over 1.5 million Canadian students.
Energy Literacy Series (ELS) is a web-based teaching program that begins with an Introduction to Energy, followed by ten modules that examine all renewable and nonrenewable energy sources. It provides information about energy, where facilities are located, and how energy resources are obtained, converted, and used. It examines energy issues from different perspectives in a non-judgmental, bias-balanced way.
The Energy Literacy Series is intended for grades 6 to 12 students and is appropriate for use in several subjects in all provinces and territories.
A free CD of graphics and animations from the Energy Literacy Series is available to teachers who complete the online feedback form. Energy Literacy Series – Who? What? Why? When? How?
