"Our thanks are due the editor of 'The London Mercury' for permission to include 'Rio de Janeiro.' 'When Man is Older' has appeared in 'Sport and Society,' 'Argentine Houses' in 'La Estrella', and the majority of the rest in 'The Buenos Aires Standard'."--Cf. Note, p. [7].

The plate signed "Hartnell" which forms the frontispiece is the same illustration as that which appears on the front of the bookjacket of the paperback edition.
