Edition Notes

Enlargement of an earlier work with the same title by Leighton (using the pseudonym Luke Limner), published by David Bogue in 1853. Plates have been revised and redrawn for this ed.

First issued by Blackie in 20 paper parts, 1880-1881.

Plates seem to be a combination of tinted lithographs and wood engraving; all have imprint of Blackie & Son.

MASS copy: Bound in green linen-grain cloth blocked in gold, black and blind.
