Small paper impression issued in 2 bound volumes. Lacks the two page preface by Shaw, dated 1840, found in the large and small paper parts issues. Main text is that of the small paper Pickering issue in parts printed by Whittingham; introductory text and prelims reset and printed by C. Whiting, Beaufort House, Strand. Plate 14 incorrectly titled: Robes of Thomas Becket. Bound in the order specified in the table of contents, which is chronological by date of the items depicted, and differs completely from the order as issued in the parts.

Most plates are hand-coloured aquatints; also includes six colour-printed wood engraved plates as well as colour-printed cuts and initials throughout the text.
