"This unfinished work of the author, which has been 'in sheets' since 1858, is now issued for private distribution only. By the addition of pages 241-259, which were included in a pamphlet issued in 1857 entitled 'Mason and Dixon's Line', the chapter relating to the boundary controversy between Pennsylvania and Virginia is completed."
