Verse of ninety-one lines, likening American patriots to those of ancient Rome, composed for a performance at the Bow Street Theater, Portsmouth, N.H. First line: You see mankind the same in every age!
Another version, "Epilogue to Cato. Written in 1778," is included in Sewall. Miscellaneous poems, Portsmouth, 1801, p. 107-110.
Textually and typographically identical with version published in the March 31, 1778, issue of the New-Hampshire gazette printed at Portsmouth by Daniel Fowle.
Includes also extracts "from a late Irish paper," signed: Janus.
