The authorship is disputed. Variously attributed to Andrew Barton (probably a pseudonym), John Leacock, and Thomas Forrest. The attribution to Forrest is most commonly accepted. Cf. the critical edition of this work, edited by David Mays (University Presses of Florida, 1976, p. 8-12)

Ascribed to the Philadelphia press of William Goddard by Evans.
