VITAE

D.ssa Claudia Caggiula earned a first class honours degree in Political Science from the University of Rome on June 30th 1976. She attended a course in European studies at the Institute of "Alcide de Gasperi" in Rome and won a scholarship. In November 1977, she discussed her thesis on "Elections in the European Parliament" with Professor C.A. Casadio and concluded this course also with first class honours.
She was nominated to work with the Department of Parliamentary Law during a Political Science faculty conference held by the University of Rome held in the autumn of 1977.
In July 1978, she obtained a foreign scholarship published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attend a course of study concerning International Law at the International Law University in Luxembourg.
During the winter of 1981, she won another scholarship, published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to participate in a one month course of refinement in the French language at the University of Toulon.
She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in June 1982 as Councillor.
In June 1992 the volume "Il Ministero degli Affari Esteri" was edited by the "Nuova Italia Scientifica". The book was presented by Ambassador Luigi Vittorio Ferraris, by Prof. Enzo Cardi (Director of the S.S.P.A.) and by Prof. Sabino Cassese.
On June 15, 1992, she was transferred to the Vice Consulate of Italy in Newark, USA as Vice Consul and in September 1996 she was appointed Vice Consul in Bedford, GB.
From September 2000 she has worked part time in the Ministry of Foreign Office in Rome sharing her time between Italy and England.
