Mehr Lal Soni Zia Fatehabadi

Zia Fatehabadi (1913-1986) born Mehr Lal Soni, was a renowned Urdu ghazal and nazm writer. He was a disciple of Seemab Akbarabadi (1882-1951). He was born on 9 February 1913 at Kapurthala, Punjab. He wrote qatahs, Rubaiat, Ghazals, Nazm, Geet, Sonnets, Short-storys, Essays,and a biography. Beginning with the publication of his first collection of poems " Tullu " meaning " Dawn " in the year 1933 thus far 20 books of his have been published the most recent being " Meri Tasveer ". Many reputed authors and critics have written about him and his literary works, to name a few - Dr. Zarina Sani , Dr. Shabbir Iqbal, Malik Ram. He died on 19 August 1986 at Delhi.
