Rhonda S. Edwards

November 26, 1958 -

Raised in southeastern North Carolina, Rhonda has lived in Charleston, South Carolina since 1980. She and her high school sweetheart, Ricky Edwards, were married in June of 1979 and have been married for 31years. Together they have one son, Ricky Jr. who with his wife Tabitha has given them two beautiful granddaughters, Kirstian and Bayleigh. A golden retriever named Jesse spends his time between each family home.

Rhonda was a stay at home mom until Ricky Jr. began school. She then became active in PTA and as a substitute teacher. Encouraged by her husband, Rhonda completed her undergraduate work at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. She graduated with a BS in Elementary Education in1994. Giving herself a little breathing room, Rhonda then went on to receive her National Board certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist and received her MA in English from a joint program with The College of Charleston and the Citadel in 2005.

Presently Rhonda teaches third grade ELA at Eagle Nest Elementary in Dorchester 2 School District in North Charleston, SC. Her National Board certification is in the area of MC/Generalist. She is also an adjunct professor for the English Department at Trident Technical College. Finally, Rhonda is a Fellow of the Charleston Area Writing Project (CAWP) having received this honor the summer of 1994. Being a part of the writing project was one of the best summers Rhonda ever spent. She was able to nurture her love for writing among a supportive encouraging group of fellow teachers/writers.

Rhonda writes children’s books about the historical, beautiful Low Country of South Carolina. Currently, SynergEbooks.com has published three of her works: One Acorn’s Journey the Legend of Angel Oak, Adora the Albino Alligator, and A Living Mascot. Visit Rhonda’s author webpage for updates and activities for enhancing each of her e-books at http://writingaboutnature.webs.com.

Pawleys Island, SC is where Rhonda spends as much time as possible. Her mother, sister, and she share a condominium at Pawleys where they spend as much time as possible. Whether on the beach at Pawleys or at Huntington Beach State Park, Rhonda fills many hours walking the shoreline, searching for shells, looking and checking on loggerhead turtle nests, and enjoying the calming beauty of the ocean.
