Jim Lewis grew up in Boonton, NJ and attended Boonton High School. Jim Lewis is a former Jim Henson Company staff writer. He first worked with the Muppets as the editor of Muppet Magazine. From the late 1980s through 2004, he was the Muppets' primary in-house writer, contributing to interviews, promotional material, and Muppet appearances. He also wrote a large amount of web content and a great many of the press quotes attributed to the Muppets. His first production was the video "Hey, You're as Funny as Fozzie Bear" (1988). In 1998, he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program for "Muppets Tonight" (1996). He Wrote much of the Gonzo, Rizzo, and Kermit material on the DVD commentary for the movie "Muppets from Space" (1999). He also writes for other children's programs, including Sid the Science Kid and Veggie Tales.
