Phoebe Courtney was a member of the "Radical Right" of American politics from the 1950s to the 1970s. She was married to Kent Courtney, a Radical Right activist. In the 1950s, she and her husband launched the Free Men Speak newspaper, which was renamed the Independent American. While her husband traveled to address right-wing groups across the U.S., Phoebe edited the newspaper. She and Kent divorced in the 1970s, and she relocated to Littleton, Colorado, where she continued to publish "Tax Fax" pamphlets that the couple had begun years earlier.
