Luis Marcelino Gómez

Luis Marcelino Gómez is a Cuban writer living and working in USA. He has a Ph.D. in Spanish and works as a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a medical doctor and practiced medicine in Africa during two years, from 1980 to 1982. In Angola he wrote the first African short story collection written by a Latin American writer in that continent. In 1985 some of his African short stories received a National Award in Havana. Later, those stories were published under the title “Donde el sol es más rojo” (Where the Sun is Most Red) (1994) in Miami, and again, in 2003, by Panamericana Editorial in Colombia under the title “Memorias de Angola” (Memories of Angola: African Short Stories.) He also had published four other books of poetry and short stories.
