R. (Robert) A. (Andrew) GILBERT read Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Bristol, and is a well-known antiquarian bookseller. He is a world authority on the historiography of esoteric thought in general and on the occult currents of the nineteenth century in particular. His publications include: A. E. Waite: A Bibliography (1983), A. E. Waite: Magician of Many Parts (1987), and (as co-editor) Selected Letters of Arthur Machen (1987).
