My artistic name is Andrew Dazz. Living and studying in the metropolitan area of New York City played an important role in shaping my beliefs and the way in which I live in the World. I first burst into the New York artistic scene in 1988 with my Third Wave Images, a book of poetry. The book is startling in visions and stark landscape. A media-hyper society blinded by flashes of bleak cynicism, expressed by high-tech verses and rhythms. Inspired by the book in 1990 I created nine rock music videos with the assistance of local rock bands. A night club act opened at The Cache Night Club in West New York. where the musicians were able to sing and act live. releasing the music videos in 1991. I followed with a New Age play, entitled In Between Zones. This melodramatic comedy paced by laugher and pain. It sports a peculiar cast of characters colliding with one another between the worlds of the familiar and the bizarre.
I visited a friend in California where I decided to stay. In 1993 I produced and directed the third incarnation of In Between Zones at the New Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Sometime In 1995 I went on to write and direct a TV Show for City Vision Television. The show, Neurotic Artists of San Francisco. The show was a venue to find and developed local artists. In 1998 with the support of the TV studio and the collective of artists, Era-2-Visions, the nonprofit I lead embarked in the most challenging project; The filming of our first film. The Maids by Jean Genet, an existentialist French writer, known as a thief, homosexual and the writer of literature of blasphemy. The play is loosely inspired by the Papin sisters, who murdered their employer, Rene Lancelin. When 1999 rolled around I was ready to find inspiration back at the Big Apple. At the beginning of the Millenium and for several years after I use my know how to make classes exiting for the students. I worked on some smaller projects with educational purposes. I had been working on an anthology of fiction for several years and in 2011 Whips & Lips Cafe hit the bookstores. Whips & Lips is a delicious taste of the forbidden outrageous of the New York City underground. It follows the experiences of five ravishing, yet enigmatic women, who reveal a bohemian existence that lives for the moment and is slave to vices, who present a compelling saga that redefines the boundaries forced upon them.
Presently, I have finished writing my first book in Spanish. El Jardin de Mis Delicias (The Garden of My Earthly Delights). This artistic quest exposes enticing imagery accompanied by intense romantic-erotic poetry. An anthology of fiction with a very tasty Hispanic flavor. It also displays strong LGBT sentiments. I expect the book to be out on January 2023.
