Hamam Supriyadi is a doctorate student at Reserach Institute for Language and Culture of Asia, Mahidol University, Nakhorn Pathom, Thailand. After finishing his BA degree in Javanese Language and Literature at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and Master in Linguistics at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand. He continued taking Ph.D Program in Linguistics at RILCA, Mahidol University.
His proposed research is titled “The Meanings of Sanskrit Loanwords in Standard Thai and Javanese from Socio-Cultural Perspectives”. This research attempts to compare semantic features of Sanskrit loanwords in the Javanese and Thai languages, and to compare the socio-cultural roles of Sanskrit loanwords in Javanese and Thai societies. Currently, he serves as a lecturer at Faculty of Culture Science, Gadjah Mada University.
